Walk and Roll

Roosevelt Elementary students return to school after volunteering as crossing guards.

Smart Moves partners with the Thurston Regional Planning Council to form Walk and Roll, a local SRTS effort supported by the Federal Safe Routes to School Program, which provides curriculum and lessons to grade schools in Thurston County.
Smart Moves helps Walk and Roll by informing students about alternative modes of transportation, their health benefits, and safety measures. Students at participating schools use radar guns to check the speed of traffic near their schools and celebrate walking and biking on Walking and Wheeling Wednesdays.
