25 Bikes Ready for Fall

Intercity Transit stores bicycles abandoned on the buses in Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater as does King County Metro of Seattle. Late in 2010, a team of volunteers (later to be dubbed the Bike PARTners) began collecting and restoring these salvaged bikes.

Now as summer rushes to the finish line and the school year approaches Bike PARTner volunteers are busy, with the help of tools and parts from Joy Ride Bikes in Lacey, refurbishing bikes to distribute at Peter G. Schmidt and Madison elementary schools.

Bike PARTners distributed 50 bikes at Roosevelt elementary this spring. That number will double in to 2011-2012 year. 25 of 100 bikes have already been scrubbed down and outfitted with new cables, tires, and brake shoes.
